Linear Measurement

The Grade 1s and 2s have been studying linear measurement in Math the past couple of weeks. Students have experimented with different measuring tools such as string, snap cubes, straws, and centimeter rulers.  We have been practicing using math vocabulary  to describe an object’s size as well.  Students have also been practicing estimating measurements.

At home, have your child practice measuring objects from around the house! A math journal is a great resource for your child to communicate their thinking and practice using math terminology.
